Jacky Bell

Jacky has been a passionate and enthusiastic teacher of mathematics for over 15 years. She has taught data science and calculus in the School of Mathematics and Statistics in the University of Sydney over the past five years. Jacky obtained a PhD from the University of Sydney in 2022, during which time she also taught pedagogy and professional practices in the School of Education and Social Work. Since then, she has led innovative initiatives at the university in creating and implementing mathematics support for incoming students to the Faculty of Science, University of Sydney Business School, and School of Economics. Jacky was a recipient of the World Teachers’ Recognition Award by the Teachers’ Guild of NSW. She has published numerous academic articles on increasing motivation and engagement in mathematics, critically examining the secondary school mathematics experience, and quantitative data analysis techniques used in educational psychology. Jacky is skilled at targeting individual learning gaps to meet the needs of students from a diverse range of mathematical backgrounds.
