James Der Derian

James Der Derian has published widely across the across the fields of international security, science and technology, and media studies, including a book and several articles on the geopolitical, societal and ethical impact of quantum innovation. He has designed and taught over twenty different courses, at Oxford University, Columbia University, University of Massachusetts, University of Southern California, Brown University, The University of Sydney and the state prison systems of Massachusetts and Rhode Island. He has produced five documentary films, most recently, Project Q: War, Peace and Quantum Mechanics.
James received a B.A. in History and Political Science from McGill University (Joint First Class Honours) and a M. Phil and D. Phil in International Relations from Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar. He is currently Director of the Centre for International Security Studies and Michael Hintze Chair of International Security at The University of Sydney.
